Make IT Work

The Make IT Work track (it-omscholing.co.uk) is a program designed to help people who want to retrain for a career in the IT industry. The program targets people who do not have a background in IT but would like to pursue a career in this industry.

How it began

In 2015, the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) launched this initiative. the HvA did so with support from the Amsterdam Economic Board, the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. In 2018, the European Commission labeled Make IT Work a model project for teaching digital skills. In the same year, Make IT Work wins the Pro-Motor Award. That award is the annual prize for an ambitious idea that rewards quality and stimulates innovation.

Skill-based training

The track provides comprehensive and practical training in a variety of IT areas, including software development, systems administration, network administration and cybersecurity. The program is designed to help people with different learning styles and levels, whether you are just starting out or already have some experience in the IT industry.

One of the key features of Make IT Work is that it is flexible. The program offers online classes, giving participants the ability to study at their convenience. In addition, classroom sessions are also available for participants who prefer to study in a more structured environment. Make IT Work 2023

Today, several colleges in the Netherlands are affiliated with Make IT Work. This successful retraining program is now run by HAN, Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Hogeschool van Amsterdam - Hilversum, and IT Academy Noord-Nederland. Who knows which more colleges will join in the future.
